There's a myth in real estate that you have to sell to win. This is a story about why that's not true.

Last summer I had clients with their home on the market in Bloomington. It wasn't just a house — it was where they'd experienced this town. Graduations, family memories, years of life built inside those walls. Letting go was already going to be hard. But they were ready for the next chapter. Or at least, they thought they were.

The market was tough. The offers coming in didn't reflect what that home meant to them — not even close. I could feel the disappointment through the phone.

In that moment, my job wasn't to push them into a deal they'd regret. It was to find a good plan. Whatever that looked like.

So I asked them a question they weren't expecting: "Forget the market for a second. If you kept the house — what would the perfect version of it look like?"

Everything shifted. They started lighting up — talking about the remodel they'd always dreamed of, the kitchen they'd always wanted, changes they'd talked about for years. So we put the listing on hold, I connected them with three builders I trust, we walked the house together, and we made a plan.
Fast forward a few months — the remodel is well underway. They got to keep the home they loved and fall back in love with it all over again. And now they're clients for life.

We didn't sell that house that day. But we found a way forward that honored it. And that's the win.

If you're sitting at a crossroads with your home and not sure which way to go — let's just talk.
